About Chemical Peels

Fourth N Main Modern Aesthetics in Asbury Park. NJ is proud to offer our patients a variety of professional peels to help patients get the beautiful, glowing skin they desire. Chemical peels use a chemical solution to help smooth and improve the texture of your skin by removing the outermost, damaged layers. A chemical peel is one of the least invasive ways to improve skin appearance. Treatment typically takes about 30 minutes, and is done right in the office. Though most peels are applied to the face, they can also be applied to the hands and neck.

Additional Information

HOW DOES A CHEMICAL PEEL WORK?

In a chemical peel treatment, a special solution will be applied to your skin to remove the top layers. Depending on the chemical level of the solution, your skin can have a light, medium, or deep peel. Over time, the skin will grow back smoother and free of imperfections.

This treatment works best on wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, or scars. A chemical peel can also be combined with other treatments like removing active acne. The deeper the peel, the longer recovery will take.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL?

The best candidates for a chemical peel are healthy individuals who want to treat mild to moderate signs of skin aging. This treatment is great for skin resurfacing and revealing smoother skin after peeling.

A chemical peel can correct dark spots and reduce the appearance of acne scars. This treatment is highly recommended to people who can commit to good skin care to achieve healthier and younger-looking skin.

Since there is no research on the effects of chemical peels on pregnant women, it is best to consider other alternatives for skincare. People with a history of keloids should get an assessment to ensure a safe and effective treatment.

YOUR CHEMICAL PEEL SESSION

Before a chemical peel session, you may undergo a facial customized to your skin needs. After cleansing the face, the chemical solution will be applied on the skin. You will need to relax and wait for at least 30 minutes, depending on our recommendation, for the chemical peel to reach deep into the skin.

After the chemical peel solution has settled in, we will neutralize the solution and have your skin cleansed. You can resume your daily activities after the treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is The VI Peel Safe For Darker Skin?

Yes! ALL VI Peel treatments are safe and effective for ALL skin tones. Inclusivity is central to our brand and mission, and all Vitality Institute products are created for and with skin of color in mind.

Does The VI Peel Burn?

The VI Peel does not burn! You may experience slight warmness and tingling in the beginning, but this should quickly subside. Besides the warmness and tingling, VI Peel treatments are virtually painless.

What Will I Look Like Right After The Peel?

Immediately after the peel, your skin may look slightly tan and glowy. You will not look much different and should be okay going about your regular daily routine.

How Many Peels Do I Need to Start Seeing Results?

Everyone’s skin is a little different, and the number of peels needed for desired results varies from person to person, and from skin condition to skin condition. While just a single peel will achieve significant skin rejuvenation (think less pigment, smoother skin texture, and brighter, radiant skin overall). In general, we recommend a series of 3-6 peels for optimal results. Make sure to consult with your provider to find a VI Peel treatment frequency that’s right for you.

How Long Will I Peel?

In general, you can expect to start peeling on or around day three and peel for about three to four days afterward. Each person’s peeling experience is a little different, and some may peel for more or fewer days, depending on the condition of the skin. If this is your first VI Peel, it’s also normal to peel for a longer period of time.

Can I Peel The Skin That Is Hanging During The Peeling Process?

Do not pull back on the skin that is shedding. It is recommended to use a clean, small cuticle scissor to trim the exfoliating skin. You can also wash the face very gently to help remove the hanging skin but be sure to not rub excessively. Your provider will inform you of your post-peel treatment care. Of course, if you have any questions, please contact our office.
